Sky Sports Premier League biography

Sky Sports Premier League is a sports television channel operated by Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. It is dedicated to broadcasting association football games from the Premier League, which is the top tier of the English football league system. The channel was launched in August 1992, the same year that the first Premier League season began. It initially broadcasted live coverage of just 60 matches, but this has since increased to cover more than 200 games per season. In addition to the live games, Sky Sports Premier League also provides analysis, previews, highlights, and other football-related programming. In addition to the UK, Sky Sports Premier League is also available in other countries around the world, including in Ireland, the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Sky Sports Premier League controversies

Sky Sports Premier League has not been without its share of controversies over the years. In 2011, the channel was criticised for repeatedly showing footage of Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli allegedly making a gun gesture during a game. In response, Sky Sports apologised to viewers for any offence caused and said that they would not be showing the footage again. In 2017, the channel found itself at the centre of controversy again when it was revealed that former England women's footballer Eniola Aluko had been subjected to alleged racist comments by national team manager Mark Sampson. Sky Sports was criticised for its coverage of the story, with some commentators arguing that they had not given it the attention it deserved.
